Joint inspection report on adult support and protection - review of progress in the West Lothian partnership area
Significant progress has been made by services in West Lothian in ensuring adults at risk of harm are safe, protected and supported.
A progress review was published today carried out by the Care Inspectorate, Healthcare Improvement Scotland and His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland, following a previous joint inspection of adult support and protection conducted in 2022.

The rights of care experienced young people are being upheld as they move on from being in care, according to a new report.
The report, released today by the Care Inspectorate, also found challenges for organisations attempting to help care experienced young people move forward into adulthood.

Updated restrictive practices self-evaluation tool published
The Promise stated that Scotland must strive to become a nation that does not restrain its children and robust self-evaluation of restrictive practices plays a key role in this journey. The Care Inspectorate, as a member of Restraint Reduction Scotland, has therefore worked collaboratively with the Scottish Physical Restraint Action Group (SPRAG) to review and update our restrictive practices self-evaluation tool.

This year's annual returns will be available to service providers for completion between 6 January and 2 March 2025. The closing date includes an extension of two weeks on our usual six-week deadline.
Each year, we ask you to complete an annual return. This gives us important information that helps us plan, inform and carry out our inspections and improvement work. We share some of the information with other organisations, such as the Scottish Social Services Council and the Scottish Government, and we use it to produce several statistical publications that you can view on our website.
